Magali Clouds - BTOML EP A review by Neil MacGowan of Monarch Music Media

I was delighted to receive a message on Facebook the other day from my good friend Magali Clouds (formerly known as Lady Kayas) asking if I would like to listen to and review her EP entitled BTOML.

Monarch Music & Media is now in the business of promoting musical, artistic and lyrical talent in addition to the retail side of things so requests such as the one from Magali are ideal for both parties, helping with publicity through cross-promotion.

OK so let's get straight into the music...

Track 1 : Escape
The opening track starts off with a moody piano melody before Magali's resonating vocals kick in, followed soon afterwards by the drums and guitar. A catchy chorus then draws the listener in and by that time you're totally in sync with the song! I particular like the way the song ends too.

Track 2 : Turned
This one is all about the bass guitar coming at you with a killer riff, then you are hit with the vocals and the drumbeat. Perhaps a little more reflective than the first track, the mourning of a lost love and that feeling of not being complete without a certain someone are sure to strike a chord with many.

Track 3 : Buck It Up
A very different style track that the previous two with very clever and catchy rapid-fire lyrics complemented by bass and lead guitar melodies which work very well together. Wonderful alternative rock track this one!

Track 4 : BTOML
My favourite track of the EP this one, it's epic! I particularly like the way the song builds. Magali's vocals really stand out as the backing music is a little more understated than in the previous songs. It's ultimately a positive song about overcoming difficult times in your life, turning the negatives into positives and going on a journey of self-discovery, staying defiant and ending up triumphing.

But don't take my word for it!
